| Crabtowne Bassmasters: 2009 Season Recap The Annapolis-area Crabtowne Bassmasters club had a great year in 2009, full of great fishing and fellowship. The club fished 10 tournaments in 2009, including a 2-day weekender at Lake Anna, three tourneys on the Potomac, plus the Susquehanna River, Marshyhope Creek, Pocomoke River, Sassafras River, Nanticoke River, and Trap Pond in Delaware. Roger Shirkey Sr. had another great year, capturing first place and the Mr. Bass plaque for the second consecutive year. Tournament winners this year were Roger Shirkey Sr., Sam Camp and Alan Thacker. Roger Shirkey Jr., captured 2nd place for 2009 and Jim Pitt took 3rd place. Sam Camp took the annual lunker prize, pulling in a heavy 5 lb, 12 oz bass in the Sassafras River on May 9th. Roger Sr. took Heavy Stringer with a 15 lb, 6 oz sack on the Potomac on May 30th. The club sponsored its annual team tournament on Marshyhope Creek in August, and it proved to be very successful with 28 teams participating. It was great competition with teams from Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. |
